Dialogue: a path to seek good

February 2025

Sometimes we face situations in which it is difficult to make a judgment, to take a position.

It is essential to have the ability to find the deeper meaning of things and to intuit meanings and perspectives.

We need light, and just as miners make their way meter by meter with a simple flashlight, we too have a light that can illuminate our steps, one by one. We realize: mutual love is a powerful light that guides us and helps us on the difficult path of personal awareness along the paths of life.

We must be able to deal with the numerous complexities of the views and opinions of those around us or those we meet almost by chance. It is important to maintain authenticity in our hearts with everyone and also be aware of the limitations of our own perspective. This openness of mind and heart, the fruit of true love, opens us to a dialogue that listens, seeking the good within the other and opening us to the possibility of building something together.

Along these lines, Timothy Radcliffe, one of the theologians present at the last Synod of Bishops of the Catholic Church, stated, addressing the members of the Synod, that: "Hills

The bravest thing we can do is to be honest with each other about our doubts and questions, those for which we don't have clear answers. In this way, we will approach each other as fellow seekers, beggars for the truth.[1].

In a conversation with members of the Focolare, Margaret Karram commented on this reflection: "Thinking about it, I've realized that many times I haven't had the courage to really say what I thought: perhaps for fear of not being understood, perhaps to avoid saying something completely different from the majority opinion." For her, "be 'beggars of the TRUE' means

have a sincere attitude of closeness towards others, in which together we seek the good»[2].

This is also the experience of Antía, who participates in the artistic group "Mosaico." Founded in 2017, it is made up of young Spaniards from different backgrounds and cultures who offer their own experience of fellowship through their art and workshops. Antía tells us: "Is the connection with My values: a fraternal world where everyone (young, inexperienced, vulnerable...) gives their contribution toThis project. 'Mosaic' makes me believe that a more supportive world isn't a utopia, despite the difficulties and hard work it entails. I've grown up working as a team, with courageous and open dialogue, abandoning my own ideas that I considered the best. And the result is that "good" is built piece by piece by everyone.»[3].
