As part of its commitment, the Movement works actively to prevent abuse and promote well-being, with special attention to minors and vulnerable people. This is done through training, awareness-raising and specific protection measures.
In Spain we have the Training Commission , which is responsible for educating the members of the Movement, and the Independent State Commission for the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons , which advises, helps in cases of mistreatment and/or abuse and handles complaints, guaranteeing confidentiality and acting quickly and efficiently to manage each case.

Guidelines for promoting the well-being and protection of minors
The document came into effect on January 1, 2026 Policy for the Protection of Persons in the Focolare Movement. These guidelines have been updated to ensure appropriate treatment of minors and vulnerable people, improving procedures and support structures.
Currently there are:
- Central Independent Commission: Supervisory body that is exclusively responsible for managing reports of abuse in collaboration with state commissions.
- Central Training Coordinator: A team of experts and advisors who train members of the Movement in prevention and protection, with the support of state commissions.
- Listening Points : Since 2022, Listening Points have been available in Western Europe - independent spaces where people can share their experiences related to abuse of power, spiritual abuse or other concerns. These points guarantee a safe and confidential environment, separate from the governing structures of the Movement.
