On September 21st, on the occasion of the International Day of Peace promoted by the UN under the slogan “Act now for a world of Peace”, Living Peace Spain brought together fifty people in a virtual meeting to celebrate the day and share experiences. Teachers, students, and coordinators from different parts of Spain and other countries participated.
The meeting, attended by approximately fifty people from different autonomous communities and with the participation of representatives from Portugal and Latin America, highlighted the commitment of educational centers, teachers, and students. Notable among these were the interventions by five teenagers from the "Álvarez Cubero" Secondary School in Priego de Córdoba, who are training as Young Ambassadors of Peace. They expressed their commitment to peaceful coexistence.
During the event, the change in national coordination was announced: Amelia Machado will assume the position held by Pilar Margall since 2015, who will accompany the team during the transition. In addition, the Living Peace 2025-2026 Guide (1) was presented, featuring experiences such as the "All-in Barrier-Free Project," which promotes the elimination of architectural obstacles in favor of inclusion.
Peace as a driver of change was also on the agenda: Granada will host the World Peace Forum from October 20-25, organized by the University of Granada and the Uniendo Culturas association. There, Living Peace will have its own space with workshops and activities. Other international initiatives were also shared, such as MediterraNew, which connects students from Europe and the Middle East, and local projects such as "Educate for Happiness" in Valencia and school programs in Murcia.
The meeting concluded with a "Time Out," a shared moment of silence in memory of those suffering from the war in Ukraine, the Holy Land, and other regions. With this gesture, Living Peace Spain closed the day by renewing its commitment to sowing peace through small, everyday actions.
