Commitment to universal brotherhood in Oviedo.

Mariapolis

Mariapolis, a very evocative word for most people who have had to deal with one, whether in its temporary or permanent format.

Mariapolis It aims to be a space for coexistence where we can experience brotherhood as a way of renewing society, a response to today's challenges and the search for happiness that every person yearns for.

It's an initiative organized by the Focolare Movement since the 1950s, when the first one was held in the Dolomite Mountains (northern Italy). Since then, they have spread throughout the world. The first one to reach our lands was in Solsona (Lleida) in 1964. They usually take place annually, sometimes nationally, internationally, and sometimes locally.

The goal is to build, over a few days, a small city, made up of people from the most diverse social classes, with different ideas, religious beliefs, and others; families, young people, children, and so on, living together under a single law: that of love, which overcomes all differences. In permanent Mariapolises, like the one in Loppiano, this is how it is lived every day of the year. Various topics are discussed through workshops, roundtable discussions, and recreational activities. All of this is based on open and in-depth dialogue, without preconceived notions, in a climate of respect, solidarity, and recognition of the value of others. Excursions and recreational evenings are also offered, contributing to a family atmosphere.
