80th anniversary of the Focolare Movement: charisma as a gift

To remain "at today's crossroads" with the same trusting attitude of Mary. These are the wishes of Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family, and Life, in the homily he offered in the Basilica of Santa Maggiore (Rome) during the Thanksgiving Mass on December 7, 2023, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Focolare Movement.

Dearest ones, on the day when 80 years ago the beginning of the focolarino charismaHere, in Mary's house, near the manger and the mystery of her divine motherhood, let us thank the Lord for the gift of Chiara Lubich and the great family that came to life around her. I repeat to you the words of the Angel Gabriel to Mary: "Do not be afraid!" You too "have found favor with God!"

With these words, Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, encouraged the Focolare Movement, presiding over the Holy Mass that took place in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome, on December 7, 2023.

On the 80th anniversary of Chiara Lubich's "Yes" to God, Cardinal Farrell, during the liturgy with which the Church celebrates the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, invited those present to remember the encounter with the charisma: “It is true that all of you have embraced the ideal focolarino as a great gift of grace, as a favor from God,” encouraging each one to continue faithfully bringing it to the world.
