A roundtable discussion to sow hope in the Jubilee year.
On May 31st, the Center for Dialogue with People of Non-Religious Persuasions of the Focolare Movement organized a round table under the title "Forgiveness and Peace: The Courage of Difficult Choices".
In a world marked by deep wounds, conflicts, and divisions, this meeting sought to offer a space for reflection and hope, particularly in the context of the Jubilee. The roundtable included the participation of Manolo Toribio, historian, Rodrigo Mardones, an expert in political science, and the testimonial voice of Cristina AlaTogether, they explored the complex relationship between conflict, justice, and reconciliation, both from a historical perspective and in light of current challenges.
From a diverse and committed perspective, the event offered a journey that integrated historical analysis, ethical and institutional foundations, and personal and collective experience. All of this served a common goal: to build bridges and foster a true culture of peace.
One of the main purposes of the meeting was precisely to promote dialogue between people of different beliefs, religious or otherwise, thus strengthening coexistence and mutual understanding. Numerous people from different countries participated online. In cities like Madrid, groups from various cities met in person to follow the roundtable and share their views in a lively and enriching dialogue.
The experience of forgiveness, it was emphasized, is not only liberating on an individual level, but also has a powerful social and collective dimension: it is a source of peace and a path to greater freedom.
